Senior Citizens and Material Culture

This video is a research project I did for my graduate school capstone. My interests are intergenerational art and material culture. I combined my two interests in this project where I interviewed five senior citizens at a nursing and rehabilitation center. I video taped our conversations, took notes on important statements made, took numerous photographs, and kept a diary for every day I worked on the project. I ended up with 2 hours of video footage that I edited down into two videos, a 7-minute one (above) and one that is 27-minutes (located on my resources page). Please feel free to watch either version and leave a comment or memory of your own.

The greatest thing I learned from this project is that what is important in life is not the material objects you own, but the relationships you create, the opportunities you take advantage of, and the memories objects hold.
